Project images

A photograph alone will not address the teamwork, the problem solving, the logic behind rearranging a floor plan to suit patterns of modern living. A single photograph can’t capture the changes to the space or layout or the way that layout addresses the living style of the family who will be using the kitchen. I see myself as a problem solving part of the construction team.  Photographs highlight the quality of craftsmanship and usually the particular tastes of the homeowner, reflecting more on the contractor, homeowner and possibly interior designer if one was used for the selection of materials.

However, people naturally want to see images of work I have completed, which has been quite a lot over 25 years.  Here is a selection of images.

The existing side entry was cramped and ugly.  We opened up the space to the kitchen and carried the materials through the space to increase the flow.

basement renovation, rustic.

The semi-finished basement was a band practice area with a punching bag and a few weights.  They wanted to maintain the look of the joists while finishing the ceiling, and so installed board between the joists and pickled the joists themselves.  The metal posts were wrapped in a rustic wood.

So many of my projects involve opening up the kitchen to the dining room.  In this case we wanted to maintain the character of the dining room while connecting the two spaces so we created a large opening in the wall and maintained the trim in the dining room.  This also allows the dining room to be painted a different color than the kitchen.

They wanted to open up their kitchen to their beautiful backyard and create a space for visitors in the kitchen separate from the workspace.

The garden door area is small but even small areas can turn into a mudroom. Additional coat and shoe storage can be found here.

Another view of the kitchen from near the new side entry.

Interior of loft in the carriage house. (new construction)  This image really highlights the reclaimed hickory floor.

Loft at carriage house, new construction. Light and airy space with a dramatic ceiling.  We reused a round top window from the main house.

Preliminary view of the ceiling.  Engineered to span across the second floor without posts.
