Looking at houses on the market is one of my favorite hobbies, and even better is when I can accompany someone who is excited about a new home and wants to check out the possibilities before they buy. This is my brainstorming session at a house you don't own yet.

You might only want to rearrange your kitchen or add a second bath. Some of my favorite projects are small design moves that really improve living space.

Since 1996 I've worked on countless renovations and additions to existing houses. This is what I love to do. Refreshing and reimagining a house to be lived in by a specific family is a great puzzle.

What a full service project (or partial project, usually) looks like:
Assessing the situation
After our initial phone call about your project and goals, if you feel I might be a good fit then we schedule a feasibility study and brainstorming session. Before the session I complete a zoning analysis to help identify an issues we would need to consider. Then we meet on site for about an hour and a half to two hours, discussing possibilities together in the house. This is followed up with a written summary and proposal for the steps.
Exploring the options
This stage is where the brainstorming turns in to actual schemes and ideas. We'll work through Exploring the optionsthe options in a series of design meetings. At the end of this stage we will have basic documents that we can use to give a contractor an idea of the scope of the project and you can use that for attracting the contractor who is right for your project.
Final plans and specifications
Once you have found a contractor and have decided to move forward with the project, we will determine the final plan, work on details, choose all materials, coordinate with the structural engineer, surveyor and any other consultants who would be necessary to the project.
Accompanying you through the construction journey
Your architect is your advocate during construction. Often the team will have a regularly scheduled site meeting to review the progress of the project, answer questions and make decisions.
